Redefine comfort with the Yieldmax picking bucket

Harvestwear picking buckets have been a familiar sight on orchards for many years with their hallmark durable plastic shell and the distinctive green and white liners.

The Yieldmax bucket takes this essential piece of equipment to new levels of durability and comfort.

Lincoln Smith of Harvestwear believes that if a fruit picker is using a Yieldmax bucket, their productivity will be up and the fruit quality going into the bin will also be up which ultimately means the return to the grower will be increased.

Some of the differences and benefits between the Yieldmax and the traditional B28 model are:

  • Kidney shaped shell—this shape fits the picker better while keeping the fruit closer to the body.
  • Tapered design—the shell tapers outwards to the bottom which gives several advantages: the centre of gravity is lowered so the weight is more balanced; the fruit flows better when emptying; the buckets nest together reducing storage space.
  • Comfortable to wear—the bottom rear edge of the bucket (part that sits against the top of the thighs) has been cut away and extensively padded so that the rubbing and chafing from walking to the bin is eliminated. This makes the bucket extremely comfortable to wear.
  • Improved moulding design—the mould has been redesigned so that the plastic shell is stronger and more durable.
  • Abrasion resistant fabric—the top and bottom edges of the liner are sewn with a very highly abrasion resistant fabric which gives better protection from arm, branch and ladder rub.

As well as these features, it also has the customary hard plastic shell which gives protection to the fruit inside and a long chute which means easy access when emptying into the bottom of the bin.

The Yieldmax bucket comes in two sizes: the standard 28 litre capacity and a 36 litre capacity.

New harness for 2014
For the 2014 season, Harvestwear are offering as standard, an all new harness—the Yieldmax Support+ Harness.

Lincoln says that Harvestwear has designed this new harness in response to calls from the industry to have a harness that provides excellent support but is also easily washable.

The Yieldmax Support+ Harness is made from strong, stretchy, breathable fabric with no foam padding to soak up sweat and consequently hold unpleasant aromas!

The large fabric area spreads the load of the bucket across a large area of the shoulder giving unrivalled comfort while the stretchiness allows it to conform to any back shape.

And with having no foam in it at all, even if it does get wet from rain it can dry out quickly.

What’s more, as it is 100% polyester it can be washed using any washing technique, even up to 70C.

Yieldmax buckets are available at any premium horticultural or farm supply stores in 2014.
