From smithy to international expert
The foundation of our company was laid in 1884, when Jan Mathijs van den Munckhof started a smithy in Horst.
He was a born innovator. He developed various types of farming machines, for which he applied for patents. Three of his sons continued the company and began focusing increasingly on the development of machines that made it possible to work faster and more efficiently, such as sprayers, the mitre cultivator and, later on, the orchard sprayer.
Starting in the 1960s, other countries also became interested in the machinery and Machinefabriek Van den Munckhof achieved success in the international market
Innovator
In 1974, son Wiel took over the company, while the other two brothers pursued other vocations.
Wiel was a born innovator and Van den Munckhof continued to grow steadily under his leadership. Tree shakers were developed specially for harvesting cherries.
The world premiere also took place of the Pluk-O-Trak, a fruit harvesting machine that not only provides a new and safe plucking method, but also a tremendous increase in productivity.
The Pluk-O-Trak can also be used for efficient thinning in the summer and pruning in the winter.
Global operations
Wiel’s sons Peter and Thijs have since taken over management and Van den Munckhof has grown to be a specialist in machinery for orchard spraying and harvesting.
The product range also includes products like effective mole traps. The products are not only sold in the Europe, but also in North and South America, the Middle East, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Innovation continues to be at the core of company activities.
Newly built facilities
The new building on Venrayseweg in Horst opened in 2014.
With a 7500 m2 production hall and an additional 1000 m2 of office space, this spacious new accommodation offers plenty of opportunities for further growth.
A professional production hall means even more efficient machinery production and organisation.
An R&D division has also been incorporated into the new facilities, where not only product innovations and improvements of the current products take place, but also the development of future machinery.
Our goal is to develop machines that make work easier and more efficient. Our sellers operate around the world, not only to sell our products, but also determine the needs of growers and dealers.
Their findings form the basis for new products or adaptations to existing products.

All year round, fruit growers work towards the harvest, the ‘crowning glory’ of their work.
Every season has its own list of tasks. Pruning is an important activity in the winter and, in the spring, much attention is devoted to growth control, planting new trees and crop protection.
Crop protection is also an important task in the summer, in addition to thinning trees with too many fruit.
Cherries are ripe for picking in July (northern hemisphere) and the first apple harvest starts as early in August and continues through autumn. As a total supplier for fruit growers, we offer effective devices for every season.
