The Toro waterbird mini sprinkler was developed in South Australia over 40 years ago and has undergone constant development to meet grower demands.
The range currently consists of the Waterbird Classic, Waterbird PC, PC Olive sprinkler and Waterbird trellis sprinkler.
Growers often have issues with mini-sprinklers becoming blocked with dirt or insects, and complain about mini sprinklers being difficult to pull apart and put back together again.
Toro’s Waterbird mini sprinklers combat these issues.
A well known characteristic of the Waterbird mini sprinklers is the anti-insect and dust proof spinner. It retracts and eliminates an entry path for insects and dust into the nozzle when the sprinkler is not in operation, resulting in fewer blockages.
Finding and preventing blockages in irrigation lines is a time consuming maintenance task for growers. Ongoing design improvements in the Waterbird range mean they now come with a Snap Fit bearing and a diaphragm on an angle. This provides for easy field disassembly making the maintenance job easier.
Waterbird mini sprinklers generally have larger flow rates than drippers which means they are less prone to blockages. It’s also far easier to see if a mini sprinkler is damaged or not working compared to drip tube, especially if the drippers are covered by leaf litter or hidden by foliage.
