UK's flowering cherries

During a recent tour of the UK a discovery unfolded of very large and very old flowering cherry trees in many public and private gardens.

The trees pictured here are in Edinburgh, Scotland and are planted about 15 metres apart. They are huge and would look magnificent during blossom.
Kew Gardens near London hosts the oldest and largest cherry tree still living in Europe. It is about 18 metres high and about 25 metres wide.
Cherries in UK supermarkets
During August and September the supermarkets and fruit shops were selling sweet cherries: Staccato and Sweetheart from Canada; Skeena and Sweetheart from USA and UK.
Prices were £ 3.50 for 350 grams in sealed packs.
