Minimise sunburn in orchards

The next generation in sunburn protection

Suncrops Plus is a ‘next generation’ sunburn protectant offering double–action protection in a unique formulation.

Suncrops Plus provides physical protection with its specially refined kaolin clay to minimise heat stress, and physiological protection with the addition of dicarboxilic acid to activate the plant’s stress response.
Effects of heat stress
Extreme heat events in Australia reduce yield, quality and profits in tree crops.
Under heat stress, the plant is not able to maintain a consistent flow of moisture. When this occurs, stomata close and cooling stops, increasing the plant’s internal temperature which can damage plant cells and results in yield losses.
Stress management
Under stress conditions, many normal plant functions slow or stop to protect plant tissue.
Photosynthesis and the production of carbohydrates, amino acids and proteins stops—which affects plant development.
Minimise exposure to temperature, UV light and solar radiation
The reflective properties of kaolin clays and  the addition of dicarboxilic acid in the formulation of Suncrops Plus reduces the incidence of direct sun scald and improves yield potential.
Reducing the plant temperature allows the plant to function and continue transpiration. By doing this, the plant can continue the cooling process and minimise sun damage.
The product has two modes of action when dealing with heat stress:

  • Kaolin clays for better reflective properties and
  • Dicarboxilic acids—organic compounds that activate the plant stress response.
