PHOTON 500SG was launched to resellers and growers throughout Australia this summer, in what turned out to be a real test for heat stress products.
Although it is too early to make a final assessment on performance, observations to date are that the Photon treatments performed as well as the Screen and Screen DUO applications in minimizing the impact of heat stress.
A key feature of PHOTON 500SG is that it is a translocated product which enters the plant within 5–6 hours, leaving no residue on the surface of the fruit or leaves
The key to successful Photon treatments is to have the product in the plant 3–4 days before a heat event. This gives the plant time to develop the chemistry to resist the damage caused by heat.
PHOTON is effective at very low levels with application rates varying from as low as 4 grams of product per 100L water, or 20 g/ha.
