Indian mynas (Acridotheres tristis) and European starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) inflict significant economic damage to the horticultural and agricultural sectors.
Growers can reduce the impact and stock loss associated with both bird species using the Myna Magnet.
Both species are members of the Sturnid family and are very susceptible and attracted to entering the two chamber trap configuration.
These birds have taken over orchards of Australia’s east coast and are heading inland. They affect orchards, as well as packing, transport and storage areas.
Myna Magnet in conjunction with the Australian National University developed, trialled and commercialised the Myna Magnet to trap mynas and starlings.
The Mini Myna Magnet (pictured above) was found to be more convenient to deploy, transport and store. Independent tests found the trap to be more effective that its larger counterpart.
