There has been some great results under Drape Net over this hot spell, with very good reductions in sunburn and with greater water retention in the soil.
Protection from sunburn
Last year we trialled different colours and as you would probably guess, the darker the net colour the better the results with sunburn.
Interestingly there seemed to be no affect on the actual colour of the fruit. This may have been a result of the growing season, so we will keep trialling.
For now, I recommend black Drape Net if your main concern is sun damage.
Hail
There have been a few reports of hail around Australia.
Drape Net has again proven itself to be the most cost effective Australian form of tree crop protection that works.
A new customer in Batlow said, “I sleep easier at night knowing we are protected”.
Birds
